Stand-up comedian Richard Pulsford (Top Ten funniest Edinburgh Fringe jokes 2019) hosts this alternative history show. Comedians and history buffs perform short stand-up sets based ‘on this day’ in history and explore some possible alternative histories of Reading. Recorded for the It Just So Happened history podcast. Joining Richard are:

A bit about the panel

Iszi Lawrence
Iszi is a writer, comedian, podcaster and History presenter. She
co-hosts BBC Radio 4’s flag ship show, Making History with Tom Holland.
She performs bespoke History shows at events for The British Science
Festival, Dulwich Picture Gallery, The British Museum, Royal Society,
Ashmolean to name but a few. She has two popular History podcasts, The
British Museum Membercast and The Z List Dead List.

Dave Chawner
Dave is a number 1 best-selling author, award winning stand up,
presenter and mental health campaigner. As seen on BBC, ITV & Channel 4
and heard on Radio 1, Radio 4 & BBC Radio 5 Live. > ‘Hilariously

Sallyann Fellows
Sallyann describes herself as a nerdy unqualified history person, an
introverted peanut lover who likes bridges and engineering. She also
doesn’t understand the internet.

Terry Dixon
Terry’s Reading born, attending Laurels, Park Lane & Stoneham schools.
He completed a local apprenticeship as an Electronics Engineer, morphing
into Project Management (PM), specialising in defence related
initiatives until his voluntary early retirement in 2016. Shortly after
retiring early he set up Terry’s Reading Walkabouts (guided walks) to
get fit, engage people in Reading’s Culture & History. This has grown
exponentially, taking out over 1,500 residents/visitors, while
generating £7,500 for mainly local charities. In October 2019, he was
part of the team who organised the Reading Gaol Hug.

Richard Pulsford
Richard is a stand-up comedian and master of wordplay, who first
performed in 2004. He was listed in Dave’s Top Ten Jokes of the
Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019 and was a runner-up in the UK Pun
Championships in 2016. He has hosted and toured the It Just So Happened
live podcast recording shows around 13 different festivals since
February 2019. He is also writer and presenter of the spoken word show
Conflict of Interest which explores the research he carried out to
uncover the history of how his family fought on both sides in WW1.
