Britain’s Got Talent 2018’s Magic Mandy will be joining us to launch the Fringe!
Mandy‘s amazing career started long before her time on BGT. She was awarded the Magic Circle Carlton Award for Comedy in Magic and has appeared on Dick and Dom’s Funny Business and as a mentor on Channel 4’s Faking It. Mandy is a member of the Inner Magic Circle and is also the first and only woman to host the Magic Circle. We couldn’t be more excited that Mandy will be joining us to kick off the fringe!!


Join us on the riverside to listen to Arturo Castro and The Flamenco Thief kick off the Fringe, MC’ed by the fantastic Ma Bessie. Enjoy with a few beverages from the Beach Bar just across the River.

The Flamenco Thief –

Craig Sutton, better known as The Flamenco Thief, is an English guitarist whose phenomenal rise within the DIY music scene has seen him become one of the busiest touring artists in the country.

Craig’s early influences of ska, hip-hop and gypsy swing are evident throughout his music, helping him craft a catalogue of songs that are hugely entertaining.

Arturo Castro Nogueras – 

Puerto Rican, Cuban and Mexican guitarist, Arturo Castro Nogueras, draws on a rich cultural background that spans his diverse heritage. Born into a family of musicians, he has performed extensively across Europe and the Americas, including sold – out performances in 2018 at the Düsseldorf Festival, Reading Fringe Festival in the U.K., Mexico City´s National Art Museum, Iberoamerican Institute in Berlin, among others, featuring Mexican and Caribbean contemporary and classical music.

Ma Bessie

Julia Titus appears as Bessie Smith to welcome you to this year’s fringe festival. Bessie Smith (April 15, 1894 – September 26, 1937), she was an American blues singer. Nicknamed the Empress of the Blues, she was the most popular female blues singer of the 1920s and 1930s. She is often regarded as one of the greatest singers of her era and was a major influence on other jazz singers.
