Aberrations have solidly established themselves on the European scene as an exciting live act, straddling the fine line between alternative/indie, pop, psychedelic and rock. They released their debut album THE WILD LIFE in November 2015 to unanimous critical acclaim. The LP, released in 180g red vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, appears courtesy of T-Rave Records, a sub-label of legendary re-issue label Sireena Records, and was recorded the old-fashioned way – live to analog tape at Düsseldorf’s Hedgehog Recorders. The second album is due for release in 2017.
Love Machine is living a spirit of free floating creativity recombining influences of psychedelia, blues, jazz, African and Latin American rhythms and analogue electronics. This bundle of American and German popcultural tradition, paired with their high voltage live performances, established Love Machine as part of the German underground music scene and made them a favourite both of crowds and critics. Following on from their first album “A Present to the Galaxy” Love Machine released their most recent album CIRCLES on Tonzonen Records in 2016. CIRCLES is a conceptual work about gravity, rotation and time.
Matt Maltese is a 20 year old singer and writer of wry modern ballads. Now based in South London, he’s fully immersed himself in the local emerging music scene, from playing shows at local venues, such as Brixton Windmill to collaborating with the likes of Alex Burey on his first EP and Hugo White (Maccabees) on his most recent single ‘Vacant In The 21st Century’. Musically, Matt Maltese takes cues from a range of influences from Leonard Cohen, Jarvis Cocker, to Father John Misty and Angel Olsen. While lyrically the topics are just as heavy in tone as his idols, Matt adds a great crescendo to his quiet musings. “A charging colossus of feeling, summing up his frustrations, anger and contemplations about society as it is today”. Matt describes his songs as “having moments of sentimentality often covered by a wry social critique of the notions of love/politics… and I want to achieve that same balance”.
Veridian are a 6 piece rock band from Reading, Berkshire. The band only formed in 2016 and have already had coverage with BBC, Upset, Rock Sound, Scuzz, Punktastic and Kerrang Radio to name a few. Alex Baker at Kerrang Radio plays the band’s tracks very regularly on his Fresh Blood show and was quoted saying “If you’re into rock music that sounds like it’s been crafted by gods in the stars then I’m sure you’re gonna love this!” Alex Baker has also added the band to his Kerrang Spotify playlist alongside bands like Moose Blood, Press To Meco and Bad Sign. They have played shows with Arcane Roots, King Blues, toured alongside Evarose, Diamond Days, and Chasing Cadence and their first show in Reading brought 250 through the door, followed by a sold-out London show. The band’s debut EP ‘40826D’ was released through Primordial Records on 12th May 2017.
In just 18 months, Twin Sun have graduated from producing edits for DJ sets to become a fully fledged band fresh from a triumphant live set at Glastonbury. Compared to Roosevelt, Flight Facilities and Chic, Twin Sun combine a love of songwriting and creating dance music to infectious levels. Their debut single “Lilac Light” has received airplay from Huw Stephens (Radio 1), John Kennedy (Radio X) & hit the playlist at Amazing Radio. Fans of Berkshire bands Saltwater Sun & Haize will recognise singer Jen & drummer Alex in their line-up for what will be an energetic and celebratory set.
Palm Honey are psychedelic experimentalists with a unique approach to pop music informed by improvisation and subversion. Their debut EP Tucked Into The Electronic Wave, a sprawling, extraterrestrial journey calling upon dream-pop, krautrock, noise and even jazz was released at beginning of 2017. Expect an immersive, chaotic performance.
